An incredibly prolific artist, Julie creates works that immediately caught my eye because they have a double power: they make you smile and move you, both up close and from afar.

She plays with proportions, sometimes flirting with kitsch, experiments with different materials, and stages herself almost like a graphic novel you can’t put down because you’re too eager to discover what happens next.

Passionate about the objects we love and keep, without any hierarchy of taste or budget, she also publishes the magazine @cher.objet, of which I’m an avid reader.

1. What do you do for a living?

I’m a painter, but I’ve started exploring so many different mediums and experimenting with all kinds of things… In the end, I think I’ll just say artist, full stop! Haha.

2. …And what’s keeping you busy at the moment?

Right now, I’m finishing a commission for a hotel, preparing an artistic collaboration with photographer Anna Leonte Loron, developing a collection of painted leather objects and ‘garments’, and getting ready for a group exhibition curated by the art label Posterità, which will take place at Print, the temporary venue that recently opened in Paris’s 20th arrondissement.

1. What do you like right now? Leather, the sun setting (finally) later, rising temperatures, crystal tassels, painting female body sculptures, and watching documentaries every evening.
2. ...and what have you always loved? Objects of all kinds, the sun and warmth, Rihanna my chihuahua, my mom, classic cars, raclette, tarragon sauces, and drinking bubbly.

1. A foolproof recipe? Roast chicken with fries and salad (all homemade, of course) with mayo, aioli, or béarnaise sauce!
2. And a foolproof look? I can't answer that question because I operate in obsession mode and don't have any looks I've repeated for years. But I would say an all-black outfit with beautiful shoes (Celine by Phoebe Philo, for example) and different textures/volumes to create dimension.

1. Your favorite item in the Patine dressing room? Without hesitation: the black or brown Power stretch bodycon dress to wear with flip-flops in summer or with fun Camper shoes.
2. ...and what's still missing from your ideal wardrobe? The perfect leather jacket in the perfect leather with the perfect cut. Your turn, Patine.
