Composition

100% recycled polyester taffeta

Sustainability and traceability

• Composition: 100% recycled polyester taffeta
• Recycled polyester is sourced from Italy
• Post-consumer recycling of plastic bottles
• Weaving and printing stages are done in Italy, and manufacturing is located in Portugal
• Taffy items are then delivered by truck to our logistics partner in Angers

Yarn manufacturing process:
The NEWLIFE manufacturing process is patented and 100% "Made in Italy." The resulting yarn offers the same performance and quality level as other polyester yarns but with a lower environmental impact.
The manufacturing steps are as follows:
• Collection: Recycled PET bottles are transported to the Fossano factory.
• Grinding: Bottles are washed and mechanically ground into "flakes."
• Melting: The "flakes" are melted to produce the NewLife polyester polymer.
• Extrusion: The polymer is sent to the Saluzzo factory where it undergoes extrusion to be transformed into continuous filament yarn.
• Texturizing: The yarn is then transported to the Biella factory for a texturizing process that gives it volume and softness.
The yarn is then ready to be shipped to the Olimpia weaving mill.

Easy care

• Easy care: wash at 30°, iron at gentle iron (2 points so 150°), or not at all

Taffy taffeta made in Italy

Taffy is our 100% recycled taffeta material.
The material is spun and woven in Italy from existing polyester, we do not use any virgin materials for these pieces.
The manufacturing is then done in Portugal, in the same place as for Tony shirts (we have been working with this workshop for 4 years). The buttons on the top, shirts and long skirt are in corozo.
We chose recycled polyester because it is a durable, dense material that dries quickly, creases very little and is easy to maintain.
You can be overdressed without needing to go to the dry cleaners :)

The concept

In 2022: we wanted to resolve the dilemma of those evening outfits that we only wear once a year.
Say hello to the Taffy 3in1 party dress like the shampoo, to wear together or separately.

A bet: make a prom dress with Patine sauce. A party outfit that can be worn easily and as conscientiously as possible, always.

Our idea: deconstruct the party dress to make three pieces to wear together, or separately: a skirt, a shirt and a top!

Taffy is therefore initially three pieces, to wear as a total look or separately, in the evening or to go get your bread.

In 2023 we are adding two pieces to this party dress concept: the little black dress, which can be worn completely buttoned or a little open with the sleeves rolled up. And the almost cropped shirt in Tony material.

How to rewear?

In total look or mismatched, in sneakers or heels, in winter or summer, you will wear it endlessly.
The skirt goes very well with shirts, sweatshirts and sweaters both tucked in and out.
The almost cropped shirt is also multifunctional: worn closed or open over a bra or long-sleeved t-shirt. It's a bit like the styled/disheveled effect in the shirt version: it enhances a casual denim look and if you add a little lipstick you're instantly dressed.

A beautiful and imperfect material

No material is perfect in itself, which is why we consider its overall impact, its place of manufacture, and its traceability throughout the value chain, seeking a balance between intrinsic durability (strength, quality over time...) and its aesthetic qualities (because when you feel good in a garment, you wear it often and for a long time).

Here's what we like about Taffy yarn:
• Newlife™ yarn is entirely Italian and 100% "post-consumer" recycled, from the collection of plastic bottles to spinning.
• It is durable, dries quickly, is easy to care for, and weighs almost nothing in a suitcase.
• We are fully aware of the risk of microplastic release from synthetic materials; this is lower than for knitted polyester.

Newlife™ yarn manufacturing process:
The manufacturing process is patented and 100% "Made in Italy". The resulting yarn has the same performance, quality level, and technical properties as virgin polyester, but with a lower environmental impact.
The manufacturing steps are as follows:
• Collection: Used recycled PET bottles are sent to the Fossano factory.
• Grinding: The bottles are washed and mechanically ground into "flakes".
• Melting: The "flakes" are melted to obtain the NewLife polyester polymer.
• Extrusion: The polymer is sent to the Saluzzo factory where it undergoes extrusion to be transformed into continuous yarn.
• Texturizing: The yarn is then transported to the Biella factory for a texturizing process that gives it volume and softness.
The yarn is then ready to be shipped to our weaver.

Recycled polyester will not solve the pollution problem linked to fashion, and not all recycled polyesters are equal. We believe that natural materials should be favoured, while also remaining vigilant about their impact, which can also be disastrous for biodiversity and resource depletion.
