All about our Gaby trench coat

#1. Patine, can you introduce Gaby to us?

Gabyis our version of the good trench coat: oversized, stylish, sublime, practical, eco-friendly, robust, water-repellent and breathable. A great iconic classic, revisited with Patine sauce to make it the piece you'll wear all the time and for many years to come. It brings cool to classic, from classic to cool, it works in all seasons on more or less layers of clothing. It's the one we saw in our dreams and in the pages of vintage Special Fashion magazines with New Yorkers walking fast. Sunglasses, cap, Converse, latte optional. OhGaby.

2 years after the first edition, the trenchGabyis now available in 2 colors (Sandblasted Beige and Dark Olive Khaki Green) and in a new material, more rigid, still water-repellent and super conscious. The fit itself does not change.

In 2021, 1,420 of you responded to the questionnaire to describe your dream trench coat. The brief in one sentence? "It's the one we saw in our dreams and in the pages of vintage Special Fashion magazines with New Yorkers walking fast. Sunglasses, cap, Converse, latte optional." We're in sync, working. Two years of development, research, and testing followed to offer you the best possible trench coat. The one that meets all your expectations and more. February 2023, we open a first pre-order, and it's boiling.

#2. Patine, what size should I take? And what color?

Our Gaby trench coat is available in 3 sizes: XS/S - M/L - XL/XXL.

We wanted Gaby to be "just long enough" for a crazy look, but without tripping over it or looking like we stole a giant's coat. If you're not (yet) a fan of oversize, we recommend taking a size below your usual size. Example: my usual size is M, I take the Gaby trench coat in XS/S.

The trench coatGabyis now available in 2 colors: Sandblasted Beige and Dark Olive Khaki Green. We listened to you and changed the shade of beige, slightly lighter, still flattering for all skin tones. We are sure you will still love it in 2083. Khaki Green is quite dark and tends slightly towards dark gray.

Can we try it/buy it somewhere?

Of course, private fitting possible at Patine Studio: 8 rue Martel 75010, Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

#3. Patine, give me more details!

Gaby is a great, iconic classic, but not boring. We can have fun with all these details that are anything but superfluous and make it a beloved and worn piece, that our child will one day want to steal.

It has a belt and tightening tabs at the cuffs which allows you to stylize the cuffs. We added a tightening tab under the collar so you can pull it up and wear it closed on cold days. The sleeves have the necessary volume to allow for thick layers, without ever weighing down the silhouette. Gaby also has: a slit at the back of the trench coat to be very free in its movements, which can be closed with a button, a large ruffle at the back to give volume and (a lot) of style, 2 large pockets to walk around without a bag, a half-lining in 100% recycled armored fabric, a guarantee of solidity, interior finishes entirely covered with bias and English seams to reinforce the important seams.

The length of the Trench, above the ankle, is what elongates the silhouette and gives it the look of an essential piece.

#4. How is this trench coat more conscious than any other?

Disclaimer: The most responsible trench coat on earth is the one you already own and love wearing.

As for the new trench coats, we can say that Gaby is a great option from a footprint and sustainability point of view: for the weaving and manufacturing of the Gaby material we have chosen responsible and high-quality materials, we have carried out very thorough traceability of each step, favored partners using less energy-intensive and low-pollution methods, and created a design that we will love for several years.

Our trench coat is made from 55% organic cotton (GOTS certified) grown in Turkey and 45% Biofeel® Polyamide, an innovative 64% bio-sourced polyamide made from castor oil (non-edible and not derived from deforestation). The castor oil is grown in India. Biofeel® Polyamide stands out for its technical properties, offering an interesting alternative to traditional polyamide entirely derived from oil. The lining is made from recycled polyester spun in Spain, 30% of which is SEAQUAL certified (recycled polyester from marine waste (collected on beaches or at sea). The remaining 70% is made from waste.

The fabric is woven, dyed, and treated in Italy with a C0 water-repellent product guaranteed to be free of fluorinated molecules, which provides initial resistance to light rain. Our trench coat is then made in Portugal, in a factory that only works with high-end brands. This factory is GOTS, SMETA, GRS, and WRS certified, guaranteeing high standards in terms of the environment and working conditions.
